French Eventing rider Guillaume Pucci passed away on Sunday after he was in a medically induced coma for the past seven months. He was 28 years old.
On November 16 2014 Pucci and his horse Schatzie Du Parc had a fall in the cross country course of CIC2* Le Pouget (FRA) at fence eight. He suffered from severe injuries to his head, his nine year old mare remained uninjured.
Guillaume Pucci competed on international level since 2009 and had just finished his first CCI3* competition in Boekelo. He was also part of the French Nations Cup Team.
In 2012 he graduated from Ecole Nationale d’Equitation, the French National Riding School and worked as a trainer at his family’s yard L’Oxer de Bellevue.
Guillaume passed away on Sunday, June 14 2015, the first anniversary of Benjamin Winter’s and Jordan McDonald’s deaths. Winter died during the CCI4* event in Luhmühlen, McDonald passed away during the Nunney Horse Trials.
Guillaume Pucci is the fifth eventing rider who passed away in a period of twleve months. In April 2015 Francisco Seabra and Sabrina Manganaro suffered deadly injuries at cross country accidents.
