West Wind Surfaces_LogoWellington, FL – July 20, 2015 – WestWind Surfaces is pleased to announce the company’s further expansion into the Latin American market with the addition of Dr. Javier Canales to its team. Having earned the respect of the equestrian community in the United States, WestWind’s custom-designed arena footing and comprehensive maintenance and service plans will now be more readily available internationally.

Canales will represent the custom footing solutions company in Latin America. His equestrian expertise and international business experience make him a great fit for this position.

Canales is an equine veterinarian who grew up surrounded by horses. He has a solid network within the equestrian world, and is excited to work with Dan as WestWind Surfaces expands south of the border.

„As a trained veterinarian, I’ll be able to talk to the clients from a health perspective,“ Canales said. „I can show them how the poor arena footing can be problematic and result in injuries for sport horses.“

Over the last few years, WestWind has created arenas for some of the top showjumping facilities in Mexico. Due to the increased demand for high-quality custom footing, WestWind is expanding with the addition of an office and warehouse in Mexico City to meet this need.

Before this partnership with Westwind, Canales was the general manager for Platinum Performance, a manufacturer of high quality equine supplements. With experience managing national sales and sales strategy, Canales gained valuable experience working in international equestrian business. He developed a large network as well, becoming well known in the Mexican equestrian world.

„There are a number of professionals in Mexico who know about horses, and travel frequently to America, and they know they need better footing, but they don’t have access to it. WestWind will work to bring the product to them,“ Canales said.

„The first step is for Dan and I to focus our efforts on Mexico,“ Canales said. „When we develop the business and the process there, then it will be easier to expand to other countries.“

Early last week, Canales made his way to Wellington, Florida, to learn more about Westwind’s base of operations. Additionally, the team is currently researching office and warehouse space in Mexico City, Mexico, in preparation for the development of the South American branch of the company.

„It’s great to be in Florida,“ Canales said. „I’m excited to work with Dan, and to bring the best new technology to Mexico.“

WestWind prides itself on quality, with CEO Dan Carr personally installing and overseeing each new footing project. From existing arenas to brand new facilities, the WestWind Surfaces team works to find the best footing for each individual client, and is excited to bring their professionalism and high quality product into the Latin American market.
