GlockHPC_100This weekend, in the CSI5* International Show Jumping at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria, it’s not just about prize money totalling 600,000 euros; in five cases it’s about world-ranking list points and much-desired GLOCK’s trophies. On Sunday, in the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix, shortly before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), athletes of already qualified nations will be able to reach for a guaranteed starting place and, at the same time, seize their chance to qualify for the European championships in Gothenburg (SWE) 2017.

With his victory in the GLOCK’s 5* Opening Competition, current two-times world and European champion and Olympic winner in Sydney, Jeroen Dubbeldam (NED), impressively proved that he will certainly be a contender this weekend. „Last year it didn’t work out here”, says the likeable professional in the award ceremony for the test over 1.45m. “I’m happy to be here again this year. Of course it’s great that there was a victory right at the start. I would love to be amongst the leaders on Sunday too, let’s see what the next days at the GHPC Austria have on offer.”

None of the other 82 starting duos came close to the best time of 62.24 seconds laid down by Dubbeldam and 14-year-old stallion Camilo LS La Silla. Coming closest was GLOCK Rider Gerco Schröder (NED), who piloted the hugely powerful jumper GLOCK’s Zaranza to a penalty-free second place in 64.83 seconds.

Last year’s winner of the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix, Pius Schwizer (SUI), also made a good showing on his round and, with just nine-year-old Tarioso Manciais, achieved third place (0/65.52).

Achieving honours for Austria were Max Kühner (T) on Cielito Lindo 2 (0/71.82 – 10th place), Astrid Kneifel (OÖ) on Royal des Bissons (0/73.04 – 13th place) and Roland Englbrecht (OÖ) on Chambery (1/76.04 – 17th place).
