Pressrelease Olympia Horse Show London – With two Olympic gold medals under her belt, Victoria Pendleton is about to brave the world of Show Jumping for the first time! Victoria will compete in the Markel Champions Challenge in aid of The Injured Jockeys Fund at Olympia’s Friday 16th Evening Performance.
Two teams will go head-to-head in a relay show jumping Challenge. The flat jockey team will be captained by the legendary Frankie Dettori, and the jump jockey team is to be captained by Richard ‘Dickie’ Johnson who is the current National Hunt Champion.
The Teams
Each team will consist of 5 members. Frankie’s flat jockey team will be:
Jim Crowley who is about-to-be crowned Champion flat jockey, Hayley Turner – a now-retired professional jockey with 764 career wins under her belt, jockey Adam Kirby, plus a mystery 5th rider.
Dickie’s jump jockey team will consist of:
Former cyclist and double gold medalist, Victoria Pendleton, British National Hunt racing jockey Sam Twiston-Davies, third-generation British steeplechase jockey Tom Scudamore, and Harry Skelton who, in 2009, became the youngest winner of the Irish Grand National!
Victoria to Learn from the Very Best!
In the lead up to Olympia, Victoria will undergo specialist training from a fellow Olympian, Rio 2016’s individual show jumping gold medallist Nick Skelton! Nick will be giving up his time in the lead up to Christmas to coach Victoria, as the multi-sport queen swaps saddles for her latest challenge. Victoria’s experience in the limelight of top-level competition will no doubt help her cope in the Olympia Arena as her team takes on the flat jockeys on Friday 16th December! Make sure you are there to cheer the teams home!
