Today the starter bell rang 22 times in the CSI1* GLOCK’s Medium Tour Final. The jumping competition was decided in a course over 1.35 m with jump-off and, to the joy of the large audience, the beaming winner comes from Austria. After two third places in the first two days, today the Lower Austrian rider Valerie Wick and her ten-year-old BWP gelding Gijon van den Hunsberg succeeded in winning.
To loud cheering from her fans, the young European Championship participant risked it all and was rewarded with first place in 38.19 seconds. “This victory is very special for me”, said the clearly moved 21-year-old female rider. “I haven’t won a show jumping competition in a while, and it’s fantastic that it worked out today after twice coming third.”
Dutch rider Bart Haselbekke and his just eight-year-old son of Voltaire, Dorus, were narrowly beaten (38.74). Completing the podium were Josefina Goess-Saurau (AUT/B) and her powerful SIEC Castillo, coming third in 40.46 seconds.
