CM | Reining – The NRHA European Futurity in Cremona (Italy) is the largest show outside the motherland of the reining sport (USA)! From 25.03 until 01.04.2017 Europe’s best riders will fight for the NHRA European Futurity Champion Open und Futurity Champion Non Pro title at the exhibition grounds with Cremona Fiere. EQWO.net will be live in Cremona when the finals take place on Friday and Saturday and of course will report on all channels (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube)!
These are the Austrian Open Riders:
Austrian State Champion 2015 Klaus Lechner (Lower Austria) and Trashy, Markus Gebert and JM Walla Big Star, NRHA Million Dollar Rider and triple NRHA World Champion Open Rudi Kronsteiner (Upper Austria) with Shine N Dixie and QM Tinsel Mic, as well as Markus Morawitz (Lower Austria) with Magnum Chic N Shine.
Rudi Kronsteiner’s goal is to ride as good as possible. With Shine N Dixie (Shine Chic Shine x Nu Dixie Chex) he won the Austrian Reining Futurity in Wr. Neustadt (Lower Austria) in 2016. Now he’ll present the four-year-old stallion in Cremona: „If he is good, we will hopefully make it to the finals.“ Rudi will also ride QM Tinsel Mic, with whom he won the Novice Horse L2 in Mooselargue on 12 March 2017 (score 71,0). As a third horse Rudi will show the eight-year-old Quarter Horse Stallion AB Peppy Diamond in the Bronze Trophy. The goal is clear: „We’re aiming for the World Champion title“, Rudi told EQWO.net
Markus Morawitz will ride Sandra Friesenbiller’s mare Magnum Chic N Shine (Magnum Chic Dream x Spark N Pretty). The owner herself showed the mare at the Breeders Futurity in Kreuth in 2016 and placed in the final of the non-pros with a score of 212,0 on rank eight. The four-year-old mare was bred by Sandra and Markus out of Spark N Pretty, which is one of the best producers in Europe (nearly $200.000). „She is a really good mare with a huge stop. She has enough talent to make it into the finals. Then the cards are mixed again. She has a definite potential, but a portion of luck is needed as well.“, Morawitz told EQWO.net.
Austrian Non-Pros:
Anna Lisec (Upper Austria) and Gunners Nite Slider, Julia Gaupmann (Lower Austria) and ARC MS Whiz, Juergen Pritz (Vorarlberg) and his own Rose of Mercedes and Alex Nestelberger (Upper Austria) will be in Cremona to reach for the Non Pro Futurity title.
Julia Gaupmann bought her Quarter Horse mare ARC MS Whiz (Walla Walla Whiz x Ms Clara Melody) two years ago. She’s proud of „Amy’s“ circles: „It’s difficult to assess strenghts of such a young horse, but her circles, lead changes and turns are very solid. In Cremona I want to have a solid and clean run. We’d be delighted to make it to the finals. If not… there will be more opportunities this year to show our strenght.“
The bronze medal winner of the European Championships Reining in Givrins (Switzerland) 2016 and current leader of the FEI ranking Young Rider Anna Lisec will compete with Gunners Nite Slider (Gunners Special Night x Wind Her Up Chix). The pair finished the Italian Futurity 2016 as the only non-Italian pair in the finals and ended up on fifth place. They also dominated the first go round at the NRHA Breeders Futurity in Kreuth. The Quarter Horse gelding is owned by Sabine Lisec and Chuck Klipfel and was bred by Cardinal Reining Horses. Gunners Nite Slider is a small horse, therefor very agile and with a lot of talent. „Gunners Nite Slider is a ‚thinker‘. He’s not always easy to ride but Anna has a very good grip on him. He is an incredibly talented horse, especially his stops are fantastic. He’s also showing great turns. Plussing is easily possible.“, tells Sabine Lisec.
Daniela Ratschew from Lower Austria will show her own Quarter Horse gelding Guns Still Smokin (Gunner x Scoot Lil Bo). She’s training with Tomás Martinek in Kirchberg am Wechsel and bought the horse from Max Tallone in the US as a two-year-old and brought him to Austria a year later. „He is a very nice and relaxed horse. His maneuvers are good, especially his stop. The finals are my goal in Cremona but with the high-profile starter field it won’t be easy.“, so Daniela Ratschew. At the Austrian Futurity in 2016 the pair placed third.
Juergen Pritz from Vorarlberg is bringing his own Quarter Horse mare Rose of Mercedes (Cromed Out Mercedes x Smooth Start Freckles) to Cremona. He bought her as a yearling and trained her himself: „I ride my horses myself. Rose is there with body and soul. If something goes wrong, it’s the rider.“ With a score of 216,0 the pair was only beaten by Germany’s Gina Schumacher and Piet Mestdagh (Belgium) at the Breeders Futurity SBH Non Pro in October 2016 in Kreuth (Germany). „She’s a horse with a great character and a lot of heart. Her stops are good and she’s good on the circles as well.“
There are more connections to Austria in Cremona:
NRHA Million Dollar Rider and multiple NRHA World Champion Open Bernard Fonck (Belgium) will ride a horse owned by Austrians: Red Collar Tag (Whiz N Tag Chex x Kachina Oak), a full brother to the highly successful Blue Collar Tag, who in turn has been shown by Austrian native Martin Muehlstaetter who’s based in the US. Is owned by KL Performance Horses in Steyr (Upper Austria). „He is a really pretty horse with a lot of stop, great circles and good turns. With Bernard he became NRHA Pre Futurity Open L4 Champion (Score 219,5) and cam third at the NRHA Breeders Futurity SBH Open 3yo (Score 220,5).“, says owner Sabine Lisec to EQWO.net.
Jenny Nixdorf, who lived in Austria for a few years but has moved back to Germany will show her own mare Hollysmartin (Hollywoodstinseltown x Tarismartin): „She’s a powerful palomino mare and Cremona is going to be her third big show. Her spin is great, I’d say that’s her best maneuver.“ The pair won the French Futurity Non Pro in October 2016 and came second in the Austrian Futurity in Wr.Neustadt.
