The british rider Chloe Aston won the first big class of the week riding amigo
Press release Sunshine Tour – British riders topped the podium in this week’s first Big Tour D Class held this afternoon and starting off a very competitive weekend of competition at the Sunshine Tour XXII. Chloe Aston riding Amigo T won in a time of 57.21sec just 3/10ths of a second in front of Kerry Brennan riding Wellington M who took 2nd. Phillip Miller riding Caritiar Z, stopped the clock in 58.66sec to take 3rd completing an all British lineup.
Tomorrow there are nine classes at this 3* International show, one of these is the FEI Longines Ranking, in total there are four of these classes over the weekend and they will be hotly contested. There is almost 150,00 euros in prize money to be won!
Todays results in the Young Horse classes are as follows, in the 7yr olds Richard Howley with E. Millfield Ester and the Belgian rider Jos Verlooy with Japatero VDM won the each of the two sections with times of 58.55sec and 59.34sec respectively. The British riders Pippa Allen riding Carthagon G Z and Max Routledge riding Castletara Lady Lux took 2nd places, the Swedish rider Antonia Andersson riding Jolie Van Donperhei and Bruce Goodin from New Zealand riding Champagne took 3rd.
In the 6yr olds the British were also the main protagonists. The winners of the two sections were Joe Whitaker with Redhill Fanta and Max Routledge with Firkov du Rouet. The Spanish riders Armando Trapote riding Tinkerbell and Ari González Barros with Piepke 111 Z took 2nd and 3rd place in the first section of the class and the Irish rider Bertram Allen riding Fairylate 86 and the British rider Chloe Aston with Kandahar were 2nd and 3rd in the second section. There were 161 riders in the class with 100 having double clears.
In the 5 yr old class Richard Howley riding Heather M and Pippa Goddard riding Chellimo took 1st and 2nd and Jade Couch riding Giovanca was 3rd. There were 100 horses jumping and half of these had clears that will go forward towards their tally for the finals.
The Young Horse classes will begin again next Tuesday and over the three days, the competitors will again have the chance to add more clear rounds towards the total of seven needed to qualify for the finals on the 16th of March.
