The Brazilian rider Carlos Mota won today’s big class at the Sunshine Tour
His compatriot Luiz Francisco de Azevedo won the middel class and the spaniard Teresa Blazquez won the small tour. Tomorrow there will be the finals of this international 2*-competition and this marks the start of the Sunshine Tour.
The Brazilian rider, Carlos Eduardo Mota riding Brilexo, was the winner of the Big test today with a clear in just 28.64 seconds. Just three tenths of a second behind was the Irish rider Jack Dodd, with Wrangler II and the line up was finished by the British rider Kayleigh Watts with Winde in 29 seconds. These were the best of the 60 competitors in the first class of the day the 1.40m ridden over two phases.
A Brazilian rider also won the middle, 1.35m class. Luiz Francisco de Azevedo riding Galouba Van’t Zoirgvl rode a very quick jump off round in 34.11 seconds. The Belgian rider Gregory Wathelet riding Lordanos Lilly was second with 36.43 seconds whilst the Irish rider, Bertram Allen was once again on the podium, in third place, riding Valentino in a time of 37.1 seconds.
Spanish rider Teresa Blázquez won her first class in this year’s Sunshine Tour riding Carola in the two phase 1.30m class, with a fast time of 30.94 seconds. Austrian rider Phillip Lever riding Josephina Z was second in 31.55 seconds and the Irish rider, Jack Dodd riding Christy, was third in 33.48 seconds.
This the first part of the Tour, finishes tomorrow Sat 13th Feb, with finals of these three classes which will be hotly contested. It should prove to be an exciting day of jumping. The first class will be the 1.35 middle class held in the David Broome (main) arena, from 9.30am onwards. After this the small 1.30 class will be held in the Milton arena (Number 5). The Grand Prix, class 1.45m, will be held in the David Broome (main) arena and will start at 3pm.
We would like to remind all showjumping fans that entry to the showground and car parking right at the entrance of Dehesa Montenmedio, is totally free and provides easy access to the show. As well as being able to watch top level competition between some of the very best riders and horses in the world, visitors can also enjoy the large shopping area with more than a dozen stands, or sit and enjoy the wonderful food on offer at one of the three restaurants on site.
