Spanish riders raze in the first day of Madrid Horse Week

The fourth edition of Madrid Horse Week started today with the official inauguration of the event, which has had a ribbon cutting ceremony, performed by the Spanish model and actress Patricia Conde, followed by a carousel parade of the Royal Guard.
Another year, the one in charge to open these days of competition was the small class of the CSI2 * the Equestre Trophy which was disputed under table “Two phases” and the height of 1.25m. The Spanish rider Iñigo López de la Osa Escribano riding Cassunta Z finished first in a time impossible to beat of 31.42 seconds. The Belgian Jessica Geurts was second, riding Hunter van Berimar in a time of 32.03 seconds. And following closely, her compatriot Emilie Conter finished in third position riding Cesanna and in a time of 32.45 seconds.
The next Spanish in the classification was Álvaro Alfonso Gómez, riding Hoznayo, a national horse, in a time of 33.43 seconds.
Next the first qualifier of the World Cup Vaulting, the MHW Trophy was disputed. The women’s round was vanquished by the Italian Anna Cavallaro, who is in third position of the international ranking, with an spectacular punctuation of 8.550. Second was the Swiss Marina Mohar with 7.774 points and third was her compatriot Nadja Büttiker with a punctuation of 4.454. In the male qualifier, the highest score has been for an outstanding performance of the Swiss Lukas Heppler with a punctuation of 8.729. Following closely, the German Jannick Heiland positioned himself in second place with 8.604 points, meanwhile his compatriot Daniel Kaiser was third with a punctuation of 8.185. These riders will fight tomorrow at 17:30, when the second qualifier will take place, in order to establish themselves in the first stage of the FEI World Cup Vaulting session 2016/2017. The winners will be known tomorrow after obtaining the average score of both days.
The CSI2* Barclays Trophy has put the pin to the first day of Madrid Horse Week 2016. The trophy was disputed under table Fault & Time and the height of 1.40m. In this phase the 8 Challengers have been classified, and will compete tomorrow against the 8 best riders of the Longines FEI ranking (Seeded) that compete in the CSI2*. In first place finished the Belgian Jérome Guery, riding Alicante in an spectacular time of 55.92 seconds. Following closely the Spanish rider Teresa Blázquez-Abascal, in a time of 56.01 seconds, riding Carola. Third was the current champion of Spanish young riders Leticia Riva riding Roanne du Mars in a time of 56.71 seconds. The Spanish riders José Díaz Vecino and Paloma Jiménez-Carmona González were also qualified for the next round.
The JUMPINGCLASH CHALLENGE, which is premiered worldwide at Madrid Horse Week, will continue tomorrow at 19:30 with the Round of 16 in which Seeded and Challengers will compete face-to-face to qualify themselves for the final, which will take place on Saturday 26.
