Pressrelease A Coruña – The international jumping competition of Casas Novas began in a dazzling way, with a high level of riders, good results for the Spanish participants and a memorable performance of Lorenzo.
21 riders who competed in the big test of the day, the Massimo Dutti Trophy, competed for qualifying for the Sunday’s the World Cup. There were only place for 13, so they all have fight till the end.
With the stands at full capacity, the riders showed their competitiveness and great displays of technique and speed. After a hard dispute, the winner was the rider René López, who stopped the chrono in 38.21 on the back of Twig du Veillon. The Colombian came out last in the jump off of the test and handled the pressure of brilliant way. The test was extremely competitive, as there is only a few tenths of difference among the top five classified of the jump off. Nice performance the ones of the Colombian, who was also in the podium of the previous test.
In second place and within short distance, the Dutch Maikel van der Vleuten was placed riding VDL Groep Arera C. The third position was for the Spanish Sergio Álvarez Moya.
In addition to these riders, among the classified for the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping CaixaBank Trophy thanks to his good performance in this test, Aldrick Cheronnet, Jane Richard Philips, Lauren Hough, Athina Onassis o Carlos López standed out.
After the competition, the equestrian show did not stop at Casas Novas, as the equestrian artist Lorenzo closed the opening day with a brilliant and exciting performance that made the Galician public lift their seats.
Mathieu Billot in the NH Collection Trophy
With the stands practically complete, the CSI 5 * began at Casas Novas with the celebration of the NH Collection Trophy. The trophy went to France, to the rider Mathieu Billot as a winner ridding the equine Radja des Fontaines with a time of 54.95 seconds. Billot continues with his good year-end, as he also had a great performance at the recent Madrid Horse Week.T he second classified was the Colombian René Lopez, with 56.73 seconds riding Big Brother. The third and fourth place went to the Portuguese Luis Sabino Gonçalves with 57.59 seconds with Teck de Riverland and Patrice Delaveau with Leontine Ledimar HDC, which stopped the clock at 57.64 seconds.
Young Spanish riders shine in the 2*
The inaugural day of the CSI of Casas Novas has started with the celebration of the Turkish Airlines Trophy, competition of the CSI 2*, the first opportunity to see the pairs on the arena of the equestrian center. The Spanish anthem played for the first time in this edition of Casas Novas in honour of the horsewoman Leticia Riva Gil who stopped the time in 61.41 seconds and zero points ridding Pink. The recent winner of the first category of Young Riders confirms her great moment. She was accompanied on the podium by the American rider Sheer Levitin, with Cubia and 62.63 seconds, and the Spanish rider Armando Trapote, who was leading the race for a few moments, with Iroko v. Brouwershoeve and 64.33 seconds.
By her side, Otti Verdú confirmed her great year with a victory at the Marqués de Riscal Trophy of the CSI 2* of A Coruña, where she stopped the chrono at 21.11 seconds with Top Lulu. The rider is living a sweet moment, since she has also recently been proclaimed as youth champion of horse riding in Madrid and comes from winning Madrid Horse Week Trophy. Luis Fernández Gil Fournier accompanied her on the podium, with 21.74 seconds riding Espinosa, and Frenchman Valentine Belooussoff, who scored a time of 22.63 with Calou.
TOMORROW, LONGINES GRAND PRIX
The day of Saturday will have great incentives, with the Longines Grand Prix as the most important competition of the day. The test, which will start at 8.30 pm, will distribute 270,000 euros in prizes and it will be attended by the best riders in Casas Novas.
