Only in February, Marc Houtzager (NED) retired his very unique Sterrehof’s Opium at age 19. His second top horse is now following already.
Sterrehof’s Tamino (Numero Uno x Farmer) was the horse with whom Marc won team silver at the Olympic Games in London 2012 and finished 9th in the individual ranking. But soon after that, the now 15 year old KWPN gelding suffered from an injury and had to pause for quite a while.
In the winter season 2014/2015 Marc and Tamino gave their comeback, but his rider did not have the feeling that Tamino would get back to his old form. Therefore, Marc and the owners, Stoeterij Sterrehof, decided to retire Tamino.
Some of the greatest results that Marc and Sterrehof’s Tamino achieved were victories at the World Cup Qualifier in London 2012, the CSI5* Grand Prix at Paris Gucci Masters or the Nations Cup triumphs with the Dutch equipe in Aachen, Rotterdam or Dublin.
