The day had started pretty well for the world number one and his 10y-old mare Happiness van’t Paradijs with an undisputed victory in the AsiaWorld-Expo Trophy. The pair is simply over the moon tonight, winning the class the rider has dreamed of for two legs now. “Twice I jumped this Longines Speed Challenge, twice I didn’t realize the round I expected. Tonight I had a little more control of my mare, she is in good shape and it was a great day. I just went for it and it payed off” he smiled. The German rider deprives Pius Schwizer of his success, longtime sitting in the blue leader chair, for only 20 hundredths of seconds. 2016 titleholder, Bertram Allen, was the last one to be feared, he will finally move Lorenzo de Luca of his third place on the podium. After a victory in the Longines Grand Prix of Los Angeles, a third place in Paris’s and other prestigious victories for over six months, Daniel Deusser confirms his current supremacy on the international showjumping stratosphere.
The Longines Speed Challenge of the second season of the Longines Masters had definitely been at the center of the conversation. Through the amazing stories of the winners of each legs of course, but mostly because of its unique course design imagined by Italy Uliano Vezzani. It will be remembered because of its “time-keeping circle” that had marked the spirit of all riders who dare to jump the fastest class of the world, considered a world championship of speed over the three continents. The last part of this unique class closes on a memorable image, and the bar is settled high for next year so we look forward to see what EEM has in mind for the next season.
The Longines Grand Prix, major class of the weekend will take place tomorrow afternoon. Daniel Deusser and Equita are obviously the favorites, expected by the public and feared by the riders, even if he anticipates it with all the sobriety he is capable of: “the biggest class is tomorrow. Equita is in great shape and I hope to maybe have a clear in the first round. If it works that way, we’ll see what we can do”. He also must count on the competitiveness of the others stars enlisted this weekend.
Besides all these showjumping champions, the Longines Masters of Hong Kong also highlights the luxury lifestyle and the shows during all three days. Santi Serra and his team of performing horses continued to mesmerize the AsiaWorld-Expo audiences with his daily “natural dressage” show, presented by Shanghai Tang. And Belgian singing sensation Alice On The Roof brought her acclaimed live act to town during the night of after-parties. The second season of the Longines Masters will conclude tomorrow on the Longines Grand Prix, most important rendez-vous of the weekend, at 3:00pm, local time.
