Press Release Longines Masters Hong Kong –
They haven’t done a good result for a while, to see them again on top of a podium for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy gives us smile. Martin Fuchs are a symbiotic and touching pair, serene enough to ride a smooth and controlling winning-round as they are famous for, and this way overcome the world’s best of the discipline.
The Swiss rider is a headline of the Longines Masters, counting among others victories in the Grand Prix of Paris in 2014, then in that same Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy in 2015 and later in the Miasuki Trophy of Paris the same year. Tonight he comes back to the competition after his impressive fall in Zurich, that will leave a broken nose, still a little bit painful today: “It doesn’t hurt except when I touch it. And fun fact, Clooney hit me in the face yesterday during a training, I had some tears coming (smile)…”, but the taste of victories helps sweetens the pain he reassures. “I was very motivated by this class. I knew it was going to be a good winning-round, with all the great riders. But I was able to pull out some strides in two lines, and even if Clooney is not really fast, I managed to turn sharply and demand the gallop at the best time. I’m very happy!”
Tonight, they shortly beat two of the current best couples, Simon Delestre and Chesall Zimequest, and Emanuele Gaudiano and Caspar. Obviously they all will be part of the Longines Grand Prix on Sunday, that Fuchs is now impatient to participate in: “Clooney has a good reputation of clear-rounds in Grand Prix, and with this victory tonight, I know I can ask for more. I hope we have the same luck as today”.
The party is on in the Prestige Village. Tomorrow promises to be a wonderful day with top-sport in the Longines Speed Challenge, and entertainments with a live concert of Alice On the Roof with apparitions of the Spanish horse whisperer, Santi Serra, presented by Shanghai Tang. The young generation, the JETS, will also be in the spotlight as they will do their first official appearance on the famous Longines Masters of Hong Kong arena.
