Hong Kong Jockey Club – Race of the Riders It takes two!

Press Release Longines Masters Hong Kong – These two are famous for being the best speeders in their own sport. One undeniably has been dominating the Hong Kong Jockey Club for several years now, the other is one of the most feared in a Grand Prix jump-off because “as long as Bosty has not gone, the class is not won!”

The atypical class pairs the world’s best showjumping riders with current top jockeys in a spectacular ride on a show jumping course. The goal for each team is to be clear on the jumps and to finish the relay the fastest time possible. A challenge that takes on the public, cheering and living the moment with its idols. Before the class, in the stands and the Prestige Village, the pair Roger-Yves Bost-Joao Moreira was given 100 against 1.

They did not disappoint: tonight, during the famous Race of the Riders of the Longines Masters of Hong Kong, the “Team Magic” wins the class hands down. Overall, they took pleasure in soundly beating (9 seconds ahead at each round) their opponents, especially last year’s winner, world n°1, Daniel Deusser, paired with Neil Callan for the “Team Blaze” this time. “Team Hong Kong”, Jacqueline Lai-Vincent Ho, and “Team Flames”, Simon Delestre-Derek Leung, unfortunately make it from the first round.

All of them enjoyed putting their sport in the spotlight during the special class, loved by the crowd. “The atmosphere here has been terrific. Even though Hong Kong people are generally more familiar with horse racing than equestrian sport, you can see how much they understand and appreciate our discipline through this class” explained Bosty at the prize giving ceremony.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will once more be honoured tonight with the HKJC Trophy, in which 27 riders are enlisted for a winning-round class at 1,50m. Let’s enjoy the show!
