Sergio claims victory ahead of a field of fast combinations
Star Spanish rider Sergio Alvarez Moya hit top gear at the GCT in Wiesbaden winning the first CSI5* of the day ahead of tonight’s Grand Prix highlight. Sergio whipped round the course on Abab van het Molenhof in 57.56 soaring over the fences straight from the start. He covered the vast grass arena at high speed taking all the necessary risks to gallop between the fences for a fast time.

It was the latest in a series of stunning victories for Sergio since the 2012 GCT season started in Doha, Qatar, in April. Second place rider Ben Maher was another fast combination and devoured the huge space between the fences to finish in 59.51 on Aristo Z. Ben and the gelding Aristo Z by Andiamo are a new team and this was an impressive outing for them.
To the delight of the massive home crowd at GCT’s first show in Wiesbaden, German rider Philipp Weishaupt on Leoville 2 took third place on 59.79. All the top five combinations are known for their speed with Gregory Wathelet and Katrin Eckermann in fourth and fifth positions.
