Victory in the first of two CSI5* jumping competitions at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER went to a rider from Germany. David Will, 27 years old, had saddled the eight-year-old Holsteiner stallion Caletto Cabana for the accumulator over 1.45 m, easily remained free of penalties and took first place in 52.72 seconds. Seated on his son of Cassini I topped off with a GLOCK winner’s blanket, Dietmar Gugler’s trainer-rider beamed from ear to ear at the winner’s interview: “This is only the second time I’ve ridden this horse at a tournament. I’m super-happy that it went so well and was enough for victory. We can look forward to a lot more from Caletto Cabana.”
Just over a second behind the winner today was second-placed Kent Farrington (USA), currently number eight in the show jumping world rankings, with his Dutch-bred mare Belle Fleur 38 (65/53.77). Jos Verlooy (BEL) and the powerful jumper Clearwater 5 lined up for third place in 54.30 seconds.
