We are talking about two world-beaters: Eric Lamaze and Philippe Le Jeune. The Canadian rider is former Olympic champion, golden medalist in both the individual and the team competitions in Beijing 2008 on the unforgivable and late Hisckenstead.
The Belgian Philip Le Jeune, the current world champion, gained the title riding Vigo D’Arsouilles Stx in the FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington Kentucky in 2010, when Lamaze got the bronze medal.
“As soon as you arrive in San Patrignano – the Canadian rider said during the last year edition of the Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge- you immediately feel a unique atmosphere. Everything is the state of the art, the playground is one of the best in the world, and the horse care is first class. For us riders participating in this challenge is more a holiday than work”.
Le Jeune, who had also been to San Patrignano before and came back honoring the Challenge with his presence and titles, said almost the same.
Emile Hendrix, technical counselor of the event, who had participated and won as rider back in 2001, said: “San Patrignano CSI5* is a special event, the riders are treated as kings. Thanks to this experience in San Patrignano, I realized that the willingness to compete can gradually grow and become an expression of identity and proud.
The preparation of the 16th edition of the Challenge is already on going. Thousands of visitors, sport fans and families looking forward to spend a lovely July evening watching the open air show, are expected. More than 400 guys in the community programme are actively working in the organization of the thee day sport and solidarity event, 30 of them will take turns working on the jumping field.
“The CSI5* is a unique opportunity to highlight the daily work undertaken by the guys in the community- explained Alex Rodino dal Pozzo, new President of the Challenge Vincenzo Muccioli- and to showcase the energy that is able to bring back people to life. This is an event that gathers together the top level international equestrian athletes, their passionate public, the technicians, the grooms and the guys in San Patrignano, the real stars of this tree day sport and solidarity event, as the founder of the community envisioned.
