The team at Ashford Farm had to say goodbye to two of their horses. Vincent Voorn (NED) will take over the reins of the six year old belgian bred Ellavar X (Calvaro Z x Clearway) who was bought for him from the Kleer-family. The beautiful grey mare finished second in the six year old class at the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken (BEL) with Ashford Farm rider Marlon Modolo Zanotelli.

To worldofshowjumping.com, Voorn said: “I saw the horse in Lanaken, she is a real eye catcher. As I was looking for a horse for the future for my sponsors, the Kleer-family, I went to try her. It was a good fit straight away, and I am very grateful to the Kleer-family to give me the possibility to ride her. ‘Ella’ has a good record already, but she is only six – so I will take my time with her. I always like to bring the horses up myself, so I will develop her as well as possible, put her in the right classes – and hopefully she will do the big sport in a few years.”
The second horse was bought by Voorn’s student Elina Petersson. Vera, who was also competed by Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, is a ten year old Holstein bred mare by Contender x Corrado II. She already jumped at five-star-level and finished first at the CSI5*-W Oslo and CSI5*-W London 2014.
