Dutch dressage rider Danielle Heijkoop had to cancel her start at the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final in Las Vegas. Her horse Siro N.O.P. fractured his splint bone.
“We were training in preparation of Las Vegas and Siro was in great shape. Last Saturday he was a little over-excited during a hand walk and we noticed a small bump on his leg the next day. We still trained on Sunday and Monday and everything felt fine but today we scanned him and the vet concluded that he had fractured his splint bone”, said Danielle Heijkoop.
“It is really unfortunate that this happened now. Last year we could not go to the World Equestrian Games in France because Siro was injured just before we were supposed to take off. Luckily this injury will heal fast and we will focus on the European Championships this summer. I’m still thinking positive but it is going to take a while until I can fully cope with the news.”
