Bertram Allen riding High Valley, wins the small GP today
Press release – The Irish rider beat Spanish rider, Manuel Fernández Saro on Extra Van Essene, into second place in an exciting and very fast jump off. Dutch rider Henk Van de Pol with his horse Flugel Van T Palmenhof took third place.
The jump off in this very fast Small GP, was contested by 16 riders. Manuel Fernández Saro on Extra Van Essene, led the class from early on, with a time of 37.47 sec. Bertram Allen riding High Valley, was the second to last, to jump and shot into the lead, knocking the Spanish Olympic rider off of the top spot, with a time of 35.28 sec.
The Dutch rider Henk Van de Pol with Flugel Van T Palmenhof just took third place in 37.50 sec, with another Irish rider, Dermott Lennon and Gelvin’s Touch, in fourth and the Belgian rider Ugo Berritella with Cavaluna Z, in fifth. This was an FEI Ranking class.
In the Big Tour B, British riders Graham Gillespie riding Laverin de Saar, and Harriet Nuttall with Silver Lift, took first and second. French rider Alix Ragot with Viola O’Moulin; Irish rider Emily Turkington with Willem, and Brasilian rider Karina Johannpeter with Vanilla Di Villagana, took the other placings.
Spanish riders topped the field in the Big Tour A2. Alfonso Arango riding Ursula D’Auge had the fastest time with British riders Robert Bevis riding Etude, and Beth Vernon riding Omane des Faux, completing the podium.
The Big Tour A1, was dominated by the Irish. Derek McCoppin riding Whiterock Lucky Lady and Emily Turkington riding Lissangle Luxzavella took the top two places, with Harriet Nuttall taking third on Highland Cruiser II.
In both the Medium Tours B and C, Kayleigh Watts was the fastest rider. In Medium C, she rode Winde to victory and in Medium Tour B, Fashion V. In Medium C second place was taken by Brazilian rider Caio Carvalho riding Aimee, and the Spanish riders Francisco Goyoaga with Hermes, Nicolás Bigón with Positano and Teresa Blázquez riding Carola, completed the list of winners in this class. In Medium B, second place was taken by Peruvian rider Carlos Merino with Ofelia Te Quiero, Belgian rider Dimme D’Haese riding Ilias Van’t Vlasmeer, and the British riders, Theo Simpson with Touch of Chili, and Spencer Roe with Con Artist completed the results.
Medium Tour A was won by the Greek rider Hannah Mytilineou riding Eodyminka. Second was French rider Alice Jonqueres with G and C Tropigold, and in third Belgian rider Boy-Adrian Van Gelderen with Cadouch Z
The Small Tour winners were Álvaro Castro riding Quel Pacha, Shiekh Samir Mirdad riding Mirdads Hubbb Aaashaaa and Jake Ward riding Frederick VII.
Tomorrow there are eleven classes, with the most prestigious class of the week, the Big Tour GP, taking place in the ‘David Broome’ grass ring at 15:30. Only the top sixty riders from this week’s show have qualified to compete in this class.
