Don’t Miss the VDL Auction This Week! Live Auction at the new Stadium – Thursday, March 1, at 7 PM
This week, for the first time at the FTI WEF, a live auction of young horses will take place. A group of top quality jumping prospects from the well-known VDL Stud in the Netherlands will be presented. One KWPN approved stallion, one mare and thirteen geldings have been selected for their superior talent, disposition and quality for the demanding horse market at the FTI WEF.

Thursday, March 1
Last Chance to try the horses at Hyperion Stud
9:00 – Noon
Happy Hour at The Stadium before the Auction starts
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Live Auction at The Stadium
7:00 pm
Pointers for attending a horse auction:
– Review the auction brochure and visit the VDL auction booth to review their videos prior to the auction.
– Involve your trainer. Have him/her review the videos and make an appointment to ride any horses you might be interested in.
– Have your vet review the radiographs (available on all horses) before the auction.
– Think about the price you are willing to pay prior to bidding.
– Sign up for bidding prior to the night of the event if at all possible.
– Prearrange for horse insurance if you think you might buy one.
– Invite your trainer to attend the auction with you.
– Discuss commission with your trainer and plan on paying this if you purchase a horse (approximately 10% of purchase price). VDL will not be paying commissions to trainers at this event.
