Press release Vienna Masters – After hosting the Longines Global Champions Tour of Vienna for five consecutive years, the Vienna Masters will take a break in the 2017 season. Just like all other Longines Global Champions Tour legs, the one in Vienna is to be held in the center of the city and the organizers are legally bound to come up with a suitable location. The event already had to be re-located to venues outside of the immediate city centre twice and was only held due to special permits. Therefore, it was mutually decided to make a comeback to the heart of the city the goal for the next event.
This is the best and most attractive solution for the organizers, the Longines Global Champions Tour, Sponsors, national and international fans respectively. Top sports requires top conditions and a unique location is one of the most essential criteria. Looking at the number of visitors it was proofed that an event in the city centre is more appealing to the audience than one outside of the city.
Negotiations with the City of Vienna are already in progress and we hope to bring the Vienna Masters back into the city centre as soon as possible. Once a suitable location is found, there is a guaranteed right to host a leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour in Vienna again and therefore welcoming the World’s best show jumping riders with their horses to another surpreme sporting event.
We want to express our gratitude for five wonderful years especially to our sponsors and partners, passionate viewers and fans, loyal volunteers, friends and supporters as well as officials, the City of Vienna and, most of all, the Longines Global Champions Tour and Mr. Jan Tops.
Thank you for your loyalty and we hope to see you again soon at Vienna Masters!
