Press release Stephex Masters – Yesterday she won the Future Stars Final, today she went to the top in the CSI2* Top Series Grand Prix presented by Commune de Meise: Emma Augier de Moussac (CZE) is in unbeatable form. Augier de Moussac was one of eleven riders to clear the 1.45m track, moving on to the jump-off – where the first prize was an Audi A1.
It was probably the sight of the Audi A1 that made the riders put their horses in top gear for this jump-off. As first in the ring, Hilary Mc Nerney (USA) rode an incredibly fast round on the 12-year-old mare Z Acodate Ddl (Acord II x Aldatus), getting a spot-on turn to the third vertical and then later on racing down the final stretch to the last oxer to stop the clock on 33.86 seconds.
The riders following Mc Nerney, would illustrate exactly how fast she had been – none of the eight to come could catch her time. If they did, it came on the expense of a rail.
Second-last-to-go, it was Emma’s turn to enter the ring and the Czech rider gave it her everything aboard the fantastic 11-year-old mare Kanonja (Kannan x Baloubet du Rouet). Not once touching the brakes for the last three jumps, Emma went full speed to shave off 0.02 seconds on Mc Nerney’s time and eventually taking home the victory.
“It’s unbelievable! I could not even imagine winning the two-star Grand Prix with this mare, but I have been in a good rhythm the whole weekend,” said Emma – who also won the Top Series 1.40m against the clock the first day. “I said to myself ‘I am on a lucky start, so I might as well give it a go’. Honestly though, I did not think I could beat Hillary Mc Nerney’s time. I saw it, and she was so smooth and sleek around the turns – so I thought I had no chance. I thought she would win the class, and I would aim for second or third,” smiled Emma who had a hard time believing she had won three classes on three different horses at the Brussels Stephex Masters.
Third place in this Grand Prix went to Karel Cox (BEL) on Nicole, who was very close – only 0.08 seconds behind Augier de Moussac. Fourth was Markus Beerbaum on Tequila de Lile (Luccianno x Etna Paluelle), while fifth went to Emile Karim Fares (LIB) on Captain Z (Lord Z x Niveau).
Gilles Thomas leading rider in the Top Series at Brussels Stephex Masters
Gilles Thomas (BEL) was awarded as leading rider as the CSI2* Top Series concluded on Sunday.
The hugely talented 18-year-old, double gold medalist at the European Championships for juniors this year, picked up 272 points in the Top Series. The Belgian rider was followed by Santiago Lambre (MEX) only one point behind, while Jessica Mendoza (GBR) ranked third.
For the Top Series-title, Gilles Thomas won a one-year-lease of a STX two horse truck worth 22 272 Euro.
A host win as Robinson Maupiler tops the CSI2* Super Cup STX Prize
Stephex Stables-rider Robinson Maupiler (FRA) made it a second victory for the hosts on Sunday, when he won the CSI2* Super Cup STX Prize worth 24 600 Euro.
Maupiler, also victorious in Friday’s 1.40m Super Cup, again proved to have the winning formula aboard the 15-year-old stallion Norlam des Etisses (Quidam de Revel x Uriel) taking home the top prize of 8118 Euro as well as valuable world ranking points.
Eight riders moved on to the jump-off in this 1.45 competition, where Aurora Rangel De Alba (MEX) opened up on Rahmannshof Before (Tenerife VDL x Matterhorn) with a steady clear round in 43.17 seconds. Next to go, Catherine Van Roosbroeck (BEL) took over the lead shaving the time down to 41.73 seconds on the 8-year-old mare Qiazetta Z (Quasimodo Z x Utrillo Z).
As next to go, and with a win already under his belt, a confident and decisive Maupiler entered the ring. Setting the speed up from the very beginning, the French rider kept a super rhythm throughout the round – really pushing it on the penultimate line before he got a great turn to the final fence. When he crossed the finish line, the clock showed a time of 39.23 seconds and it looked very hard to beat.
The remaining five riders all tried, but they could not catch the 23-year-old rider. However, Janika Sprunger (SUI) rode a beautiful round on the scopey stallion Bacardi VDL (Corland x Kannan) to finish third – pushing Aurora Rangel De Alba down to fourth. Fifth place went to the 14-year-old talent Thibault Philippaerts (BEL).
“Today I rode the best horse in the jump-off, and the best horse won. I am very happy and I want to say a big thank you to the whole Stephex-team,” said a happy Robinson Maupiler after his win. “Everybody worked very hard for this show. And also thanks to Stephan, who gave me the ride on this horse. I already knew that he is a very, very fast horse and super careful. I went into the jump-off as number three and I tried to go fast, because I wanted to win again. For this horse it is actually easy, so it all worked out!’
Emilie Conter leading rider in the Super Cup at Brussels Stephex Masters
Emilie Conter (BEL) – daughter of Brussels Stephex Masters’ own president and event director Stephan Conter – was awarded as leading rider as the CSI2* Super Cup concluded on Sunday.
The talented 16-year-old, a team gold medalist at the European Championships for juniors this year, picked up 260 points in the Super Cup. Another young Belgian talent followed as rank two: 14-year-old Thibault Philippaerts with 258 points. Janika Sprunger (SUI) finished as rank three.
Conter’s Super Cup-title gave her a one-year-lease of a STX two horse truck worth 22 272 Euro.
More Belgian success in Prestige League Stephex Prize
The Belgian riders continued their success in Sunday’s Prestige League Stephex Prize, filling up the top four spots – and best of them all was Maverick Van Lent.
Aboard the 7-year old mare Jiamante Van Essene (Diamant de Semilly x Gotthardsen), Van Lent took the victory in this 1.20m two phase special competition with a double clear round. With a little over a second down to runner-up Odile Putman on Tempo Fontanel (Rheingold de Luyne x Fusain du Defey) it was a win with a good margin.
Third place went to Toon Maes on Daan (Negro x Zeoliet), 1.88 seconds behind the winner. Camille Demolie followed in fourth, while Nikolaos Katsos (GRE) broke the Belgian spell as number five.
