TIEC Welcomes Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District as Title Sponsor of 2016 Tryon Fall Series Set to Begin on Thursday, September 22

Tyron_LogoPressrelease Tyron International Equestrian Center – Mill Spring, NC – August 27, 2016 – Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) will welcome the hunter and jumper disciplines back to the venue, ushering in the 2016 Tryon Fall Series presented by Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District. The 2016 Tryon Fall Series will begin on Thursday, September 22, and continue for six consecutive weeks before concluding on Sunday, October 30. The 2016 Tryon Fall Series will also feature the first-ever Suncast® Turf Series, which will showcase top show jumping competition on the world-class derby field located at TIEC. The fall circuit will also include two FEI CSI 3* competitions, alongside the second FEI CSI 5* hosted at the facility this year.

The 2016 Tryon Fall Series will commence the third week of September (Sept. 22-25) welcoming back B-rated hunter competition, alongside USEF Level 4 jumper classes. The week will also host a $10,000 Suncast® Welcome and a $25,000 Grand Prix. Hunter competitors will have the opportunity to contest a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby.

Tryon Fall II (Sept. 28-Oct. 2) upgrades hunter competition, offering AA-rated hunter divisions, which will include a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby to be hosted on the derby field and USEF Level 4 jumpers featuring a $10,000 Suncast® Welcome and $25,000 Grand Prix.

The world-class derby field at TIEC will be used for both international and national classes during the 2016 Tryon Fall Series presented by Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District.

The Carolinas‘ Challenge Cup Wild Card competition is set to begin during Tryon Fall III (Oct. 5-9), presenting riders with the last opportunity to qualify for the Carolinas‘ Challenge Cup Finals, which will feature a $10,000 class for the following divisions: Children’s Hunter, Adult Hunter, Junior Hunter, Amateur Owner Hunter, and Pre-Green Hunter. A $2,500 2’6″ Hunter class will also accompany the divisions in in the 2016 Carolinas‘ Challenge Cup Final to be hosted at Tryon Fall IV (Oct. 12-15). B-rated hunter competition will run in conjunction with the Carolinas‘ Challenge Cup Wild Card qualifier. Click here to read more about the Carolinas‘ Challenge Cup Series. The final three weeks of the fall circuit will welcome international show jumping back to the venue, as two FEI CSI 3* weeks and an FEI CSI 5* will attract top riders from around the globe. Tryon Fall IV (Oct. 12-16) is set to offer the first FEI CSI 3* of the series, featuring a $35,000 1.45m Horseware® Ireland Opener CSI 3* and a $130,000 Suncast® Grand Prix CSI 3* in the main arena. The week will also host a $35,000 1.50m Suncast® Welcome CSI 3*.

Competition during Tryon IV will transition to the derby field, which will present a $25,000 Grand Prix as part of the Suncast® Turf Tour and two $8,000 1.40m Nutrena® Open Jumper Classic classes. A continuation of Under 25 series is set to showcase a $7,500 Under 25 Welcome and a $25,000 Under 25 Grand Prix in the George H. Morris Arena.

A $10,000 Rider Bonus will be offered for the Under 25 Series for the top-placing horse and rider pair. The top rider combinations of each of the Under 25 Series event will get points based on the number of riders in the competition plus one point. The Welcome classes will receive half points (or multiplied by .50). Riders with more than one horse must declare his/her points horse and that horse will be drawn to go before the rider’s other horse/s.

The overall winner of the Tryon Under 25 Series will be the horse/rider combination with the most points. In the event of a tie on points, the winner of the most Under 25 classes will be the winner. If there is still a tie, the rider who has won the most money throughout the Under 25 Series will be the winner. If there is still a tie, the rider with the most clear rounds will be the winner.

The Carolinas‘ Challenge Cup Finals will run simultaneously with the first FEI week at Tryon Fall IV, as qualified riders who have achieved competition requirements and finished within the top 30 in their respective divisions will vie for top prize money. AA-rated hunter competition will accompany the Carolinas‘ Challenge Cup Finals.

Tryon Fall V (Oct. 19-23) will bring the second FEI CSI 5* of the 2016 season to the facility. A number of major classes are scheduled to take place in the George H. Morris Arena including a $35,000 1.45m Horseware® Ireland Opener CSI 5*, $130,000 1.50m Suncast® Welcome Stake CSI 5*, $35,000 1.45m Horseware® Ireland Stake CSI 5*, and $380,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5*. The $86,000 1.50m Suncast® Classic CSI 5* will take to the derby field as part of the Suncast® Turf Tour.

The Under 25 Series will run in conjunction with the FEI classes throughout the week including a $7,500 Under 25 Welcome and $25,000 Under 25 Grand Prix in the George H. Morris Arena. A major $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, hosted on the derby field, will highlight AA-rated hunter divisions.

Tryon Fall VI (Oct. 26-30) will conclude the six-week series, featuring the final FEI CSI 3* of the year. A $35,000 1.45 Horseware® Ireland Opener CSI 3* will begin the week in the George H. Morris Arena, followed by a $35,000 1.50m Suncast® Welcome CSI 3*, and a $130,000 Asheville Greenville BMW Centers Grand Prix CSI 3*. A $25,000 Grand Prix, the final leg of the Suncast® Turf Tour Series, will be offered on the derby field, alongside a $8,000 1.40m Nutrena® Open Jumper Classic. The final installment of the Under 25 series will host a $7,500 Under 25 Welcome and $25,000 Under 25 Grand Prix in the George H. Morris Arena throughout the week. AA-rated hunter competition will conclude the series for hunter riders.
