Jumping_BordeauxAfter the moving and particularly well staged good-byes of the amazing Silvana*HDC, Pénélope Leprévost and Nice Stéphanie has offered the best gift to the wonderful public of Bordeaux by winning the Grand Prix Land Rover, beating another an other female rider, the surprising Laura Renwick, rising star of the British showjumping. The Marseillaise have sounded six times over the seven 5* courses, and particularly in the two most important classes ! A historic first in Bordeaux. The 2016 edition concludes with a feminine elegancy, then in a great and overall happiness with a Jumping which run sold out. More than 50 000 people came to both the sport show and the Salon Jumping L’Expo from February 5th to 7th.

This time, the course designer proposed a more selective course as only seven riders (against seventeen yesterday) could have reach the jump-off. A line, with an oxer followed by a four-strides (and a half) double of verticals, which have turned out to be ruthless for most of the competitors. Then, only seven participants have found the solution, and among them two female horse riders… who ended up at the first two places.

Laura Renwick has the victory inscribed in her DNA : in 2015, she counts no less than 81 victories, but still no significative result in a 5* Grand Prix. This victory was then a real satisfaction for her : “Bintang is a horse who is still a little bit young and green, he has a lack of experience in order to beat a pair like Pénélope and Nice Stéphanie. But this second rank, here in Bordeaux, is my greatest achievement. The horse still has to develop before we can even think to be part of the Olympic British team. But he is definitely a horse suited for the major events. And he is not the only one as I have some young promising horses in my stables to support him”! Now we are warned!

Second is a rank that Penelope Leprévost no longer wanted to hear about: “It’s been two years that I finish second of this Grand Prix Land Rover, and it was about time! I owed my partner that much as they also are the partner of the class. Nice Stéphanie is maybe one of the fastest mare in the world, she gave everything for this round, I felt she was in a winning spirit and I have left anything aside. Right now she is going really well, she is confident, and yet she can still progress a lot. This course required horses capable of making small strides and as is his specialty, it certainly has an advantage this afternoon. “ Belgium’s friendly Jérôme Guery completed this podium, not really offended to have been beaten by two women: “especially by female riders of this calibre! I live quite amazing moment at this time. Thanks to Papillon Z, I have been able to break into the international scene in 2015. Papillon Z has pulled the other horses in my stables upward. I bought Grand Crû last year and this third place reward its progress over the year. And it’s far from over”.

Well, quite a podium to conclude this 2016 edition of the Jumping International de Bordeaux.
