Over 120 riders from 21 countries will compete in the 15 classes in Madrid for over €500,000 in prize money as momentum builds to the prestigious Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix presented by Caixa Bank on Saturday evening.
From 1st – 3rd May, the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will host the third leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour 2015, the world’s premier show jumping circuit. Following the spectacular season opener in Miami and last weekend’s European debut in Antwerp, the world’s best riders are now gearing up to renew their rivalry in Madrid.
Last year’s Grand Prix was an electrifying contest between the titans of show jumping and was eventually won by Maikel van der Vleuten with a stunning performance which knocked almost two seconds off runner-up Marcus Ehning in a two-horse jump-off. With the top four riders from last year set to reappear in 2015, as well as current LGCT rankings leader Bassem Hassan Mohammed and 2014 LGCT champion Scott Brash, we can look forward to another outstanding competition on Saturday.
In addition to the intense high-quality show jumping on display, there will be an extensive shopping village and a pony park for children to come and experience the horses and ponies first hand. There are also great refreshments around the show ground offering fantastic views of the competition. For details on tickets and access please visit http://www.globalchampionstour.com/tickets/.
If you can’t make it to the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, you can watch the sporting action unfold live on GCT TV’s live streaming. The Grand Prix will also be televised on Eurosport, BeIN Sports and Spanish TV networks Teledeporte and Television de Galicia as well as equestrian channels Equidia, Class Horse TV and Horse & Country TV.
From 17 to 20 September the Longines Global Champions Tour is coming to Vienna again! Tickets for the VIENNA MASTERS are already available on the Eventwebsite.
