Michael Jung talks about accusations
As reported by the German magazine Reiter Revue, Michael Jung (GER) is being criticised after the CCI4* Pau (FRA). The reason is that his eleven year old gelding Halunke FBW did not pass the second horse inspection and was declared ’not fit to compete‘. In an online blg titled „Was Pau the end of Halunke FBW’s carreer?“ (in German), the author shares his opinion about the horse management at Michael Jung’s stable. Michael Jung and his father and trainer Joachim talked about the accusations.
Father and son dismissed the accusations about overworking their horses. Joachim Jung said: „Everyone can be assured that we plan the season together with the bondscoach with the focus on not overworking any of the horses.“ Michael Jung added: „My horses are my life, I do everything I can to make sure that they are treated in the best way possible.“
In the blog, Halunke’s missing protection boots were discussed as well. „Halunke already had an injured tendon once and is handicapped in that way. The pressure of the boots causes discomfort. That is why the vets decided to let him compete without boots. There is always a residiual risk, even with boots.“
The author of the blog also talks about the possible end of Halunke’s carreer. Michael Jung does not see that coming. „I assume that it is nothing serious and that we will see him back again next year.“
