Mexican victory at the 2015 Autumn MET 2015

Santiago Lambre from Mexico has won the Grand Prix at the 2015 Autumn MET. The Nations Cup rider who lives in Belgium secured victory in the world ranking show jumping competition in Oliva Nova with a penalty-free round of 78.68 seconds with Rahmannshof Before. The 40-year-old professional rider’s victory marked the conclusion of the three-week Autumn MET on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. The Mexican rider and the Dutch gelding have only been a team for a matter of weeks. Lambre acquired Before from Maximilian Weishaupt and is highly satisfied with the nine-year-old horse. “He is quick and agile, which was a huge advantage today,” said the winner of the Longines Ranking test, in which 65 pairs from 22 countries competed. Lambre and his wife have been coming to the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva Nova for four years, keen to make use of the exceptional facilities and conditions available for training and competition.

Experienced British pro Tim Stockdale came second with Fleur de L’Aube and third place went to Belgian Constant van Paesschen with Ralphy Utopia de Ransbeck, a 14-year-old chestnut horse. Van Paesschen’s achievement was just the latest in a whole host of successes he has celebrated at the Autumn MET. Stockdale’s compatriot Chloe Aston, who has won more tests than any other competitor, also gave a strong performance in the third Grand Prix of the Autumn MET, finishing amongst the top riders. Aston and Merqusio took fifth place behind Russian rider Vladimir Tuganov with Bluebuster. The 21-year-old has already confirmed that she will definitely be back in Oliva Nova – in Spring 2016.
