Press release Longines – This year, the Swiss watch brand Longines is celebrating its tenth year as the Official Timekeeper at the Royal Ascot races, Britain’s most renowned racing event. Bringing in some of the world’s top performing horses, as well as a sophisticated audience seeking a unique sporting experience, this event involves no less than 8 Group 1 races, including the King’s Stand Stakes, which was won by Profitable. The horse’s owner, trainer, jockey and lad were presented with a Longines watch from the hands of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.

2016 marks the 10th Royal Ascot since the beginning of the Longines-Ascot partnership. Every year, this week of exceptional races, 18 in total, is highly anticipated by a large number of spectators who attend to witness the achievements of some of the world’s fastest horses. Each day begins with the Royal Procession, an iconic moment which makes this equestrian event one of Britain’s most renowned.
On Tuesday, June 14th, the watch brand Longines celebrated Caravaggio’s victory in the Coventry Stakes, awarding its owner, trainer, jockey and lad with Longines watches from The Longines Master Collection. Later in the day, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne presented the King’s Stand Stakes winners with models from the same collection.

The evening before, Her Royal Highness was honored during the fourth Longines Ladies Awards ceremony, put on by the Swiss watch brand in the majestic Natural History Museum in London. This award outlined her invaluable contribution to the equestrian world, both as a high-level athlete and at the head of key institutions for the disciplines, such as the Fédération Équestre Internationale, of which she was President for 8 years.
During this ceremony, which brought together well-respected individuals in the equestrian world, Juan-Carlos Capelli, Longines Vice President and Head of International Marketing, presented her with an 18 carat rose gold pocket watch, The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911. A symbol of the strong ties between the winged hourglass brand and the world of equestrian sports, this piece has a skillfully crafted back featuring a trio of horses. The heads of these three proud animals stand out against a background of delicately crafted foliage. The foliage design is also featured on the piece’s case. This unique model is a very limited edition, and each piece is numbered.
