Press Release A Coruna – Gudrun Patteet was proclaimed winner of the Longines Trophy of the CSI 4 * A Coruna in a hotly Winning round. Riding Sea Coast
Pebbels, the Belgian rider demonstrated again her spell of good luck, after her victory just
a week ago in the CSI4* Ascona Grand Prix. She was the first out on the arena of the
second round and finished with 30.82 seconds that kept her in the lead until the end.
The German Tobias Meyer, who was classified third in the previous class, was really
close with Coolmann, just 11 hundredths behind the Belgian. And the Frenchman Patrice
Delaveau was brilliant again with Leontinne, stopping the clock in 30.97 seconds, just
0,15seconds away from Patteet. The current runner-up is doing an excellent job in A
Coruna, performing two second places, a third and a fifth in the four competitions he has participated.
Pebbles again in good shape
After the prize giving ceremony, Patteet said she was very satisfied with Pebbels: “It is the first big class that he does well for a long time. He jumped very well at the beginning of the season but in St. Gallen was frightened and since then it has been difficult getting
confidence together back. I’m really happy”. In addition to the trophy, the winner received a Longines watch, sponsor and official watch of the show. Tomorrow she will compete in the CaixaBank Grand Prix with Atlantic, horse with who just won in Switzerland. About her expectations, the rider is confident to do it well: „Yesterday we performed slowly with any fault in the biggest class and I think Atlantic will be fresh for tomorrow.“
Spanish riders are still away from the podium. Of the three Spaniards who competed in
the second round, only Lopez-Fanjul managed to finish his course without faults, but
nearly four seconds away from the time set by Belgian rider. Eduardo Alvarez Aznar and
Santiago Nunez finished with 4 and 8 points respectively.
Mathieu Billot won the duel with Frenchman Patrice Delaveau winning the Marqués de
Riscal Trophy in Casas Novas. A time of 55.75 seconds with Vedette Z brought him to the
First out on the arena, the German Tobias Meyer with Indora, performed a clear round
with a time of 57.93 seconds. Patrice Delaveau, riding Uthope de la Roque, came
eleventh with determination and beat Meyer, lowering the clock in more than one second
(56.89). But the last word was not said until the Frenchman Mathieu Billot, with Vedette Z, did a great course with a time of 55’75 ”. Super performance of Delaveau, who has been in all the prize giving ceremonies where he has participated.
Sergio Alvarez Moya, a member of the Spanish Olympic team and best Spanish in the
Longines FEI ranking, went through the class riding Unicstar L’Aumone and made the
best time, which would have placed him leader (57.63), but a fault at the end of the
course brought him away of the first place.
PORSCHE TROPHY
British rider Louise Saywell has won agin the 1,35m class, the Porsche Trophy. Riding
Feigtling she has been the only one able to finish under the 51 seconds. Very close was
Brasilian Luiz Francisco de Azevedo with Galouba van”T Zorgvliet, who performed a
course without any faults and with a time of 51,07 seconds. Mexican Juan Jose Zendejas
Salgado was third with the 9 years old Hector v.D. Papendijk.
The best Spanish qualified has been Jose Bono with Iroko v. Brouwershoev, a 8 years old
horse who has been in the podium in several internatioal competitions, as the CSI4* Vejer
de la Frontera or the CSI2* LGCT Madrid.
