The equestrian world was in shock when it came out that the showjumpers Andres Rodriguez (VEN) and Sophie Walker (USA) were killed in a fatal car crash in the early morning of 4th january 2016 (EQWO.net reported). For unsettled reasons Rodriguez lost control over his 1992 Porsche Roadster near the Palm Beach Polo and Country Clubs Florida and crashed into a concrete pole.
The 30-year-old Sophie Walker, wife of the american showjumper Brian Walker (USA), died immidiately. Andres Rodriguez (VEN) was instantly brought to de Del Ray Medical Center, where the doctors did everything to save his life – in vain.
According to the blood test, the 31-year old Rodriguez had a blood alcohol concentration of .126 at time of the fatal crash – 50% more than the legal limit to drive in Florida (.08). The precision of the blood alcohol test can be made sure because the doctors took his blood directly when Rodriguez was taken to the emergency room.
