Ireland’s show jumping shootingstar Bertram Allen added another star to his string of horses.
The 19 year-old got the ride on Quiet Easy 4. The eleven year-old gelding has been shown by Ben Maher (GBR), Chloe Aston (GBR) and most recently by Angelica Augustsson (SWE) before his owner Emma Philips (Quainton Stud) decided to give Bertram the ride.
“The first time I saw Bertram ride was watching the King George V Cup in Hickstead, last summer. I knew then he would be the perfect partner for my horse,” Emma told Horse & Hound. “Quiet Easy has been a winner for everyone that has ridden him and he has a special place in my heart.”
Bertram rode Quiet Easy for the first time at last year’s Horse of the Year Show and “they were magical together”, said Emma.
But the day before the chestnut offspring of Quidams Rubin was supposed to travel to Bertram’s stable in Germany he suffered a serious bout of colic. “I rushed him to a clinic in Newmarket where he underwent surgery. The next three weeks he was in intensive care and we almost lost him”, said his owner.
Bertram and Quiet Easy gave their debut at CSI5* ‘s-Hertogenbosch (NED). ”
“It was very emotional for me when I got the call he was clear and jumping well. I am so very grateful to all the vets who worked on him.”
