Adriana van Tilburg | Breeding – The trend with the good conformations of young stallions could be seen again at the Holsteiner approvals. During the triangle on hard and soft ground the stallions generally showed more movement than in the previous years. After the triangle the four dressage stallions were presented on the longe line in the indoor arena. The guest speaker Lars Nieberg was very critical and said that for the dressage stallions there is much more room for improvement. In total 58 stallions were presented on the first day. The most important part for the Holsteiner stallions is the free jumping which followed on day two.

Casall Ask – THE Holstein Stallion
Almost 1/3 of the stallions were by Casall Ask (Caretino – Kira XVII x Lavall I, Stamm 890). In the final Rolex/WBFSH Ranking he is counting for the first place of the Holsteiner Verband by having three of his offspring counting for top points and also Casall Ask himself has a top place in the ranking. Also for the Zangersheide Studbook, that is on the second place, he is presented by his son Casallo Z. Five offspring of Casall Ask became approved and number 13 became also premium: Cesul (Casall – Alabama x Calato, Stamm 5401, bred by Johannes Baumann) who showed scope on the jump.

The Cascadello I (Casall – Viviana x Clearway, Stamm 4847) group was not as good as the outstanding group of offspring from last year’s approvals. Three sons were approved and one of them became premium, the stallion Clarksville (Cascadello I – Zauberstern x Canto, Stamm 318D2, bred by Norbert Frings). He jumped really well until he got a little bit tired and the oxer at the approvals was at the highest. Casall Ask finished of this amazing Holsteiner stallion approval and Elite Auction week by becoming the overall champion of the Longines Global Champions Tour and winning the LGCT Grand Prix of Doha for the first time.

A surprise in the morning program was the first jumping bred stallion after the dressage stallions and the halfblood horses. Number six: Carcassone (Cachassini – A-Cosmopolita x Coriano, Stamm 4761) may have been the best stallion of the morning program with a lot of scope, good technique and a good type. He became a premium stallion. It was also in Holstein difficult to find complete stallions with stallion type and sport. Number five was the halfblood Fragotino (Fragonard xx – Sensea x Caretino, Stamm 95) a very pretty stallion that didn’t jump bad for a halfblood. He was careful but lacked a bit of scope that has been seen before with halfbloods during the Holsteiner stallion approvals, but became approved anyway.

Outside blood
Diamant de Semilly (Le Tot de Semilly – Venise des Cresles x Elf III) presented three direct sons. Two of them got approved and one was injured. Deus da Vinci (Diamant de Semilly – U-Chocolate x Corrado I, Stamm 317A, bred by Francesca Costa) had not his best free jumping moment during the approvals, but had a good conformation and got approved.

Number 39 was the better one during the free jumping: Denton (Diamant de Semilly – Aparte x Contendro I, Stamm 1446, bred by Ronald Nowee). The mother is a full sister to Captain Fire who jumped international with Marco Kutscher. His son Diarado got his son approved as well (D’Avant by Diarado – Cassina x Cassiano, Stamm 750, bred by Udo Verworner). Diamant de Semilly’s grandson Dinken (Diarado – Inken I x Cassini I, Stamm 2294) had his first son at the approvals and was successful with him. Danken (Dinken – Biskaja x Caretino, Stamm 737, bred by Thiess Meier) showed good movement during the triangle and started very well during the free jumping but became a bit tired during that.

Quiwi Dream (Quidam de Revel – Panam Air x Contender, Stamm 8888) showed a very good group of sons, who showed scope and nice types. Two of them got approved, including number 51 Quiwi Capitol (Quiwi Dream – Z-Capitola x Cero, Stamm 173, bred by Harm Thormählen). This stallion had a lot of scope. His grandmother is full sister to the foundation stallion Capitol I (Capitano).

Untouchable (Hors la Loi II – Promesse x Heartbreaker, Stamm 18A2) is also working on building up a line. His son Uriko (- Wizzard x Lavito, Stamm 4172, bred by Joop Aaldering & Kyra Swelheim) showed the most complete group of offspring. His son Unlimited (Uriko – Utopia V x Casall, Stamm 2543, bred by Klaus Thiedemann) had a very good conformation, the free jumping was also good and the audience went wild after the free jumping and cheered like he was the champion stallion. It has been a long time ago that the audience was so enthusiastic. The audience was right on Saturday and the stallion became the champion.

The Zirocco Blue (Mr. Blue – Licorne des Forets x Voltaire) son Zornell II (- Zypern IV x Colman, Stamm 730B, bred by Karl Heinz Peters) showed scope and a good technique in the free jumping.
