Another British victory in Oliva

(Oliva) British rider Joseph Davison has won his first world rankings test in Oliva Nova at the Autumn MET. Davison avoided penalties and completed the test in 66.46 seconds with Vennoot to secure the victory in the contest, which boasts 24,700 euros‘ prize money.  Second place in the Longines Ranking test went to compatriot Kayleigh Watts with Winde.

Joseph Davison is only 24 years old.  He rides for Team Harmony and has achieved a whole host of successes with 13 year-old gelding Vennoot: Davison has 150 placings in show-jumping tests to his name.  “Vennoot is a quick and very agile horse, but he isn’t easy”, says Davison of his sporting partner.  “He has a tendency towards overeagerness and sometimes wants too much.  Before Davison, Vennoot was ridden by Swiss show-jumper Alain Jufer.  Davison also plans to compete in the world ranking show-jumping on Friday with Vennoot.  “But then we’ll have finished”, says the 24 year old from Uttoxeter, who is studying Equine Sciences in Nantwich, England.  Next stop for Davison and his horses after the Autumn MET will be the CSI Opglabbeek in Belgium, an indoor competition.

The second Gold Tour test in Oliva Nova was won by a young Irishman.  Michael Duffy and Sassie Cassie relegated Aldrick Cheronnet from France into second place.  Third and fourth places went to British riders Chad Fellows with Beat Me and Jamie Wingrove with Carina.

On Friday there will be seven international show-jumping tests up for grabs at the Autumn MET, one of which is a Longines Ranking show-jumping competitions boasting 24,500 euros‘ prize money.
