The South African show jumper Jonathan Clarke and the Venezuelan Pablo Barrios are accused of doping violation. The horse of Jonathan Clarke, Felix Van De Mispelaere, was tested positive for minoxidil (drug that leads to dilation of blood vessels) at the CSI*-W show in Polokwane, South Africa. Horse and rider were now suspended from 21 October 2015 for two months. Jonathan Clarke and the horse owners will have the opportunity of objection.
Show jumper Pablo Barrios (WEN) has now been found guilty of administration of banned substances. His horse was tested at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz (MEX) in November 2014. Analysis of the urine sample of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has hydrochlorothiazide determined (diuretic substance is applied in hypertension, heart failure, or to get rid of edema), which is a substance as part of the WADA Prohibited List 2014.
Pablo Barrios got by the FEI not only a rebuke, he must pay a penalty of 1,500 CHF, bear the costs of the legal proceedings and he was disqualified from the event.
