A five star line-up in Monaco !
Press Release – The 11th edition of the Jumping International of Monte-Carlo should keep all its promises regarding the list of the international riders who are coming this year. The Port Hercule will host the stars of the discipline for three days of competition under the Prince’s rock. This top-level rendezvous announces great sports emotions for the glamorous leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, from June 24th to 26th 2016.
During this thrilling weekend, riders will be keen to win the Grand Prix du Prince, endowed with 320 000€ on Saturday night. Last year winner, Scotland’s Scott Brash (world n°5), will be present to defend his title, especially after having return to Grand Prix victory last weekend at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Cannes with Hello Forever.
Leader of the Longines Global Champions Tour circuit’s standing rankins, Christian Ahlmann (world n°3) will obviously be in Monaco. Accumulating 209 points after eight legs, the German rider has a head start over his rivals. However, he will have to be careful with the tough competition present in Monaco. Starting with Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander, winner of the circuit’s first leg in Miami and second in Cannes, Ireland’s young Bertram Allen, Sweden’s Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Columbia’s Daniel Bluman and Brisith legend’s John Whitaker, recent winner of the Grand Prix of Saint-Tropez at the beginning of the month. All are in the race to try to win this very prestigious summer circuit, which big finale will be in Doha in November (3rd to 5th).
The atmosphere around the sand arena, nearby the yachts moored at the Port Hercule, will be electric with the attendance of hundreds of spectators coming to cheer the champions from the stands and the VIP lounges. Women will be honored at Monaco since the public will have the opportunity to applaud America’s Jessica Springsteen, the daughter of the „Boss“ has done a good season so far with his gray mare Cynar, Georgina Bloomberg, Audrey Coulter, but also Greece’s Athina Onassis, Switzerland’s Jane Richard Philips, or the young Dutch Lisa Nooren, who managed the feat of winning the Grand Prix CSI 5* of La Coruna last December at just 18. A true rendezvous of elegance, talent and glamor in Monaco!
Horse lovers will surely be delighted to see riders less present on the international circuit in recent months as the very friendly Richard Spooner. The American rider feels extremely well on the Monaco harbor being the only rider to have won three times this Grand Prix in 2008, 2009 and 2013 with Cristallo. Hopefully this will bring luck to Cristallo*LM of Julien Epaillard, only French representative in Monaco.
No doubt thrill seekers will be present throughout the weekend to watch this amazing show.
