Press release – Pietro Valeri is the new European Open Cutting champion. Riding Poundcake Deluxe, the Italian rider took first place in this NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) competition, with a total score of 294.50 after the two rounds. “On Thursday, I completed a really good first round, with a score of 150 points. That put me in pole position. I just had to put in a solid performance today to keep my first place” said Pietro Valeri just after his win. He did what he had to do to keep the lead with a 144.5 point round. Pietro Valeri comes from Modena and has been a professional cutting rider for nearly twenty years. He breeds and trains cutting horses. This was his third time at Equita Lyon.
Italy dominated this championship, taking the first four places in the final rankings. The 2015 European Champion, Denis Pini, came close to making it two in a row. The Italian rider ultimately took the second and third places in the competition with HB Catandmouse (294 pts) and All About Pep (293.50 pts).
It is also worth noting the impressive performance of the French rider Gaétan Foulatier. The rider from the Auvergne region took the fifth and sixth places in the European Cutting Championships with Peeka Peps Cat (289 pts) and Achys Mickey Merada (288 pts).
