On international grounds in Barcelona, on national level in Stadl-Paura or at a regional show in Himberg – the Alpenspan stars scored all around during the last weekend of September (22 – 25 September 2016). Gerfried Puck (AUT) and Gianni Govoni (ITA) were sent to the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final in Barcelona (ESP) for their countries, Anton Martin Bauer (AUT) participated in the Austrian Breeding Championships in Stadl-Paura and dressage rider Peter Gmoser had great results in Himberg.
Two placings and good rounds for Gerfried
“Let’s do the final!” was the motto for Alpenspan rider Gerfried Puck. He was one of the five Austrian riders who were selected to go to Barcelona for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final. And he proved to be the right choice. Riding the 10-year-old KWPN mare Bo, he finished sixth in the 1.45 m Coca Cola Trophy on Thursday as well as in the Negrita Cup (1.45 m) on Saturday. In the Nations Cup Final, he trusted in his Phin Phin-daughter Bionda. The combination had three fences down in the first round of the final, where Austria then qualified for the small final of the series where the team ended up eigth.
Alpenspan Italy on top with Gianni Govoni
Representing Italy, Gianni Govoni was also in Barcelona. The “Master of faster” went on to add yet another international victory to his record when he won the Coca Cola Trophy (1.45 m) aboard Winn Winn (by Chin Chin). For the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Final he saddled up Antonio. Gianni and Antonio had one pole in the first round of the 1.60 m competition and just one timefault in the final. Therefore, they played a big part in the fourth place of team Italy in this year’s series.
Anton Martin Bauer scores at the Austrian Breeding Championship
Taking care of the youngsters under the saddle, Anton Martin Bauer participated at the AWÖ Bundeschampionat – the Austrian Breeding Championships – in Stadl-Paura. Riding Fire PZW, he finished second in a 1.20 m competition on Saturday with a score of 7.4. In the final on Sunday, Martin and Fire PZW ended up fifth.
“Buschi” does his job
Meanwhile, Alpenspan dressage pro Peter Gmoser showed off his skills in Himberg. Riding Danilo 7, he won the Intermediaire II on Friday with 66,053 % as well as on Saturday (65,482 %) and finished second in Sunday’s Grand Prix (64,300 %). In the Prix St Georges, Peter and Blue Bayou (by L’Andiamo) came third with a score of 66,667 %. Furthermore, Peter won another five classes with Lima Luna and Banderas and was placed three more times with Bacary and Banderas.
