CM – The High Roller Reining Classic was held from September 9 – 17 at the South Point Event and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. Since 2008 the reining event has become one of the greatest events, holding a Top 4 position as one of NRHA’s Leading Events World Wide. Austrian reining pro Martin Muehlstaetter, who has been based in Scottsdale, Arizona (USA) for the last twelve years, was amongst the many riders vying for the big prize money.
Americas best reining riders showed their exceptional horses in Las Vegas. Martin Muehlstaetter, born in Carinthia (AUT) in 1979, placed sixth with a score of 227,0 in the Level 4 Open – Aged Event aboard the five-year-old Quarter Horse Late Night Stopper (Jacs Electric Spark x Best Stop). With Whizkey Rock N Roll the Austrian placed sixth in the Level 4 Open Futurity (218,5). Nine days of intense reining competition took it’s toll on Austrian rider Martin, as he posts on his Facebook page. Some days were very long ending the competiton at 10.30-11.00 p.m.
Las Vegas was also venue for the World Para Reining Challenge and the Arabian / Half Arabian Reining shows. Not taking themselves too seriously, a highlight was the Pony Races, where trainers had to fight for the win:
