On a “borrowed horse” to GLOCK’s 2* Tour victory

GlockHPC_100Day three of International Show Jumping at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria began at really quite a pace, because deciding between victory and defeat in the GLOCK’s 2* Tour over 1.40 m were speed and handiness. Here, knockdowns were to be converted into penalty seconds, meaning that, with sufficient speed, it would be possible to remain in contention for the lead despite a fault.

The fastest penalty-free time (63.63) was delivered by British contestant Elliott Gordon in the saddle on Quintia, a twelve-year-old Holsteiner mare. At the winner’s interview, the winner, now resident in Frankfurt, confided that he would have been unable to take part without his girlfriend’s help. “I’ve sold my best two horses. So my girlfriend Felicitas Erfurt lent me her mare, Quintia.” As to his expectations of tomorrow’s GLOCK’s 2* Grand Prix, he took a realistic position: “The horse is in good shape, but mistakes just happen quickly. Let’s hope for the best.”

Swedish rider Erica Swartz benefited from the rules of the speed and handiness competition. She had a knock down with her eleven-year-old stallion Dundalk, raised in Ireland. But the final time of 65.99 seconds, was still easily enough for second place. Also Annelies Vorsselmans (BEL), who came third, had one knock-down with Courage (of Ukato), coming third with 66.21 seconds.

Dr. Georg Hladik (AUT/NÖ) on Parcival Z (71.38) and Constanze Wenzel (AUT/NÖ) on Missy (76.58) secured eighth and tenth places for Austria.
