What a relief! Laura Graves (USA) and Verdades (“Diddy”) are back: after their uncharacteristic result at the last AGDF CDI two weeks ago, the pair is back on track with a victory at last night’s CDI5* Grand Prix at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida (USA).
“Tonight’s performance was a big relief for us actually,” Laura said. A relaxed Verdades (Florett AS x Liwilarda) was rewarded with 76.440% – their second best score in a CDI Grand Prix.
Right next to them on the scoreboard were Steffen Peters (USA) and Legolas 92 with74,100%. This pair was followed by Mikala Gundersen (DEN) and My Lady with 71,760%.
Peters could have got 76%, too, but mistakes in the one-tempis were costly. “He was at a 76% and it dropped us down to a 74%. I’m not sure if it would have been close enough to get to Laura, but what is exciting is that [the United States has] two horses that can do 76% and higher. Ideally, we need one more for Rio, where we average 76%, because then we have a chance at a medal.” commented Peters.
The Grand Prix Freestyle is scheduled for tonight, more: www.globaldressagefestival.com.
