Delestre – brilliant winner of the first Grand Prix Qualifier in Madrid


The test in charge of close the second day of MHW, the UAX Trophy and Qualifying for the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Mutua Madrileña Trophy, had a protagonist, the current leader of the European League, Simon Delestre. The test, with a height of 155cm and disputed under table Jump Off was characterized by faultless courses. Of the 50 participants, 24 went to the jump off. The French imposed from the beginning a great time that could only beat Christian Alhmann, but a knockdown in the last fence pulled away from the top. Daniel Deusser and Anna-Julia Kontio were classified below. Pilar Lucrecia Cordon and Eduardo Alvarez were the two Spanish representatives in the second round, finishing in sixth and twelfth position respectively.
The CSI5* started at 16h with the triumph of Roger’s Yves Bost in the Mitshubishi Trophy, after completing a clear round in an incredible time of 52,62, which was impossible to beat. The German Christian Ahlmann, reining winner of the World Cup Jumping of Stuttgart, was second with a time of 52,20. Third was Laura Renwick with only 15 hundredth of a second more than the German rider.

In the FEI World Cup Vaulting, the Swiss rider Simone Jáiser, winner of yesterday’s first round, was crowned winner of the FEI Vaulting World Cup with a score of 7.978 along with „Simbal“. The second place went to the Austrian Isabel Fiala, which proved her great technical ability placing in second position in yesterday’s first round. Third was the French rider Anne Sophie Musset also third in yesterday’s round.
In the masculine category the first place went to the German Daniel Käiser who was fifth in the Wold Cup 2010 and is actually number four in the FEI ranking. The young German rider next to „Simbal“, horse that also gave the victory to Simone Jäiser, obtained a score of 8,182 points. Second was Lukas Heppler and third the Italian Francesco Bortoletto.
In the CSI2* tests, the protagonists were Diana Marsá and Eugenio Grimaldi. The Italian and „Quando“,who were last to go in the arena, broke the time of the Spanish rider moving him to the second and fourth place with „Iron Man“ and „Bolero“ respectively. The third place went to the Spanish rider David Uson Olaso, which in the previous edition was one of the outstanding riders and that so far still is in this third edition of the Madrid Horse Week.
Diana Marsá was unbeatable today at the MHW Trophy. The Spanish rider and the young „Andi D’emiralia“ managed to do the best time out of 10 riders who finished with no faults. Anette Ringnes with „Capello II“ did another clear round today finishing second. The next rider to climb up was Gonzalo Añon riding „Caddington“.
The CSI2* will open the third journey of tomorrow with the MHW and Hola Trophies. It will then be the turn of the dressage Marca Trophy and will be followed by with CSI5* Trophies: Estrella Damm, 6 bars Pedro del Hierro and jump & drive Mitsubishi. The day will culminate with the first qualifying for the FEI World Cup Driving.
