In southern France two horses had to put down after they had been infected with the West Nile Virus.
The insidious virus is transmitted by mosquitoes from infected birds to mammals, as well as people. About the blood the virus enters the brain and the spinal cord and is causing paralysis.
The virus originated in Africa, but nowaday the virus occurs in the United states frequently. The number of infected horses also increased in Romania and Hungary.
