Dates Announced for Ridge at Riverview’s 2015 Asbury Classic
The Ridge at Riverview is thrilled to announce the dates for their two-week fall event, the Asbury Classic. The Asbury Classic has been praised as one of the most beautiful shows in the nation, and it returns this Oct. 8-11 and Oct. 15-18 to the Ridge at Riverview. The show features a fully slated hunter/jumper competition, including a $15,000 Grand Prix, a $2,000 Jumper Derby and a $1,500 Hunter Derby each week on the field, as well as unprecedented hospitality and unique awards that make it the standout event of the fall competition calendar. The Ridge at Riverview Asbury Classic offers classes at every level for both hunters and jumpers. It has unique highlight classes such as the Futures Grand Prix, Mini-Prix, $2,000 Open Jumper Welcome Class, $2,000 Jersey Jumper Derby and hunter derbies, along with the weekly $15,000 Grand Prix. The Child Pony Hunter division, Child/Adult Hunters, and Low Child/Adult Hunters will all experience the derby field first hand with $500 Classics offered both weeks, a rare opportunity that continues to make the Ridge at Riverview a top notch event. The Asbury Classic will also host classics that count toward Marshall & Sterling points, as well as the New Jersey Professional Horsemen’s Association (NJPHA).
For the 2015 Asbury Classic, the show management has designed an incentive program for the weekly Grand Prix. If 30 horses or more compete in the grand prix event, they will raise the total purse to $20,000.
The Ridge at Riverview is operated by Olympian Nona Garson and is a standout venue in the Asbury area with its picturesque fields, large Grand Prix Ring, Hunter Ring and Derby Field. The grounds have both turf and all-weather footing. The facility boasts three beautifully designed rings, as well as the all-new 150 x 300-foot all-weather sand arena.
In addition to the hunter/jumper classes, the Asbury Classic creates a unique show every year with special awards. The presentations include the Hunter Derby Groom’s Award, Jumper Groom’s Award, Jumper Style Award, Best Child Rider on a Horse/Pony and Best Adult Rider. Exhibitors will also be able to appreciate the unmatched hospitality of the rider’s tent.
The official charity partner of the 2015 Asbury Classic is Riding With Heart Hunterdon Equine Assisted Recreation and Therapy. Special classes will be held each week, and the Ridge at Riverview will make a donation based on the number of entries in each week’s special charity class.
Week One will host the Child/Adult Gambler’s Choice, which has proven to always be a fan favorite, and Week Two will feature the Costume Jumper Relay, a team event that will have the whole crowd on their feet. Week Two will also welcome the children and the show dogs for a costume lead-line class and „Doggie Parade“ with prizes for the best costumes of the classes.
This elite state-of-the-art facility offers the best of the equestrian sports with tough competition, a full array of classes and generous prize money.
