Warum Nicht FRH passed away
Germany’s ‚Grande Dame‘ of Dressage, Isabell Werth, announced on her website that her beloved Warum Nicht FRH passed away after a colic. Werth and the Hannoveranian gelding were an outstanding combination and competet for Germany at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky (USA) in 2010 where she won bronze with the team.

Furthermore, Isabell and ‚Hannes‘, participated in three World Cup Finals: 2006 in Amsterdam (2nd place), 2007 in Las Vegas (1st place), 2008 in ’s-Hertogenbosch (2nd place) and 2010 in ’s-Hertogenbosch (4th place).
The obviously very saddened rider wrote the following statement on her website
Farewell Hannes
Our retirees herd has shrunk. Warum nicht FRH, who was affectionately called Hannes, is no longer alive. I can not believe it, even though it is now already a few days. But I simply did not have the distance to announce the sad event at once and I did not want everyboy to ask me about his dead at a show. Now I had the time to get a little used to the idea that our gentle and always cheerful giant is no longer with us.
It all happened so incredibly fast. Hannes, who was ended after a hip fracture in the box his sports career and since then enjoyed his retired life here at our farm on the pasture, was in a super good condition – until he suddenly showed colic symptoms. We have tried everything, even a surgery. But already during the operation it was clear that he was beyond redemption. We then let him fall asleep peacefully in the anesthesia.
I would have granted him so many years here, but it was not to be. Thanks Hannes for everything I experienced with you. I hope you now gallop on another pasture – perhaps together with a Gigolo and his friends.
Farewell.
