Australia’s Matt Williams Joins Wyndmont Inc. Team

Working with Beard and Dorman has been an exciting new partnership for Williams, who moved to the United States after the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky. „It’s quite exciting to work with people that you believe can get you back into the top of the sport again,“ noted Williams, „Ronnie and Michael have a wealth of knowledge and is very enthusiastic about it. They are real horsemen, which is a nice thing to be around and learn from.“
Last week, Williams competed aboard IV Ever, Zaldorado and Cas for Wyndmont, piloting IV Ever to the win in the 1.40m Open Jumpers with a double clear effort, while Zaldorado picked up the third place ribbon. In the 1.35m Open Jumper Speed, Cas placed second with a clear round just a tick behind the leader.
„The last couple weeks we really worked on my riding,“ said Williams. „I haven’t had training in a few years and you pick up a few bad habits, and if you don’t get told you keep on repeating the faults that you are making. The last couple weeks my riding has changed greatly just through small comments from Ronnie and Michael.“
Williams continued. „They have a great bunch of horses. A mix of younger horses coming up and already made grand prix horses. I think anyone that would step into a place like that would have success on these horses. They picked a great bunch of horses and they make my life easy.“
Wyndmont and Williams will continue to compete at the Tryon Summer Series through the end of August before returning to Florida in September to give the horses and riders a rest before the fall show season.
