A new rule tempers british Eventing. Carrying the medical armbands will no longer be binding during Eventing Events.
The purpose of these bracelets was to get all necessary medical data in case of an accident as quickly as possible. The doctor’s name and number, details of any existing medical conditions and allergies, and previous serious injuries are some informations which are included.
For Mike Crockford, a paramedic on events, the card is very useful and he doesn´t understand why the officials changed the rule.
As British Eventings safety office Jonathan Clissold said, the decision came as a result of feedback from FEI doctors and medical officials.
