Richard Meade posthumously awarded by the British Horse Foundation
The British Breeders Dinner and Awards Ceremony organised by the British Horse Foundation was held on Saturday 10th January at the Grange City Hotel in London (GBR).

The highlight of the event was the SEIB Meritoire, an annual award that is presented as recognition for a lifetime’s contribution to the breeding industry. The award should have been presented to three-time Olympic gold medalist Richard Meade. Sadly, he passed away the day before after he lost his battle with cancer.
Nevertheless, the British Horse Foundation took the occasion to present a celebration of the life of a great gentleman, equestrian and friend of many in the room. Richard Meade’s contribution to the british breeding industry was immense and he acted as a link between sports and breeding. He also helped to develop the first breeding strategy for Britain and to set up the Supporters of British Breeding.
He was an inspiration for so many and aware that he was chosen for the award before he became sick. The Meritoire will be presented to Richard Meade’s family when they feel ready to receive it.
