Australian eventing rider Andreq Hoy will ride the 17 year-old Algebra this season. The story about how the duo got together is quite unusual.
So far Algebra was ridden by Natalie Blundell (AUS). She wanted to compete at the World Euqestrian Games 2014 for her country but did not manage to qualify. During the preparation she trained at Andrew Hoy’s stables. Therefore, he has known his most recent partner under the saddle for a while.
The plan was to retire Algebra after the last season. But his owners, John Glenn and Julia McLean, changed their minds and want to keep Algebra in the sport for another season. But with Andrew Hoy instead of Natalie Blundell.
He kept Algebra in shape recently and the owners loved the duo. Andrew Hoy himself is very happy to ride Algebra: “He is a small horse with a big heart and lots of power. He achieved a lot and does not need to prove anything anymore. We will take it step by step and see where we end up. I am looking forward to riding him this season.”
