A camera man caused a scandal at the European Championships in Aachen today. The compulsary test, which is the first of four tests the vaulters have to do in the Championship, started at 10 am in the Deutsche Bank stadium. First to go was Team Wildegg from Austria with lunger Maria Lehrmann and their horse Alessio l’Amabile. A camera man was sitting right next to the arena behind some flowers which would not have been a problem.
But he decided to get up and change position right when the team was coming towards him. Alessio was taken by surprise, made some sidesteps and Katharina Luschin had to jump off the horse. The squad finished their test but protested against their score.
UPDATE 1:02 pm
The organizers decided in favour of the squad from Wildegg. They will get their second chance at 5.40 pm.
UPDATE 4:36 pm
Germany is protesting against the protest of Team Austria – the decision is yet to be made
